Sweet Chick: Celebrating National Soul Food Month

Comme “National Soul Food Month” descends upon us here at the G Pen offices, the crew moseyed down to a transplant eatery new to California, Sweet Chick.

Originally based in NYC, they recently opened up their fourth location in the heart of West Hollywood on Fairfax.

Avec leur spécialité de poulet et gaufres, ils se vantent de servir “cuisine with a Southern accent: rustic but modern American comfort food and twists on classic dishes and cocktails, plus home-baked desserts that will make you feel like a kid again.”

Although we’ve heard great things about their dinner selection, we were stoked to try their weekday brunch menu.

For those that don’t normally mess with cabbage, the coleslaw was smackin’.

Le Gaufre Everything Bagel a fait fureur. Impossible de se tromper avec du fromage à la crème & du saumon fumé.

Il fallait goûter au classique Poulet et gaufres.

Le niveau de gourmandise était à son comble.

Parmi tous les délices offerts, la Gaufre Sweet Chick was the best way to cap off the feast, topped with fresh fruit, ricotta and drizzled with honey.
